Broadband speed?

  cadx 22:37 07 Feb 2007

I would like someone to explain the broadband spped to me, I did the speed test and this is what I got,
Your current bandwidth reading is:

3.45 Mbps

now when I hover my mouse over my ISP on the bottom task bar it gives a reading of 7.4 mbps
now can someone explain what is my true speed, I am so confused.

Depending what software you used and when you use it , you will always get diferent readings.

cadx 22:45 07 Feb 2007 unsure in what you mean, I am with Tiscali broadband, I have had them take over my phone line from BT, I also use Mozilla Firefox, was persuaded to use FF ans have never regretted it, so much better then IE, though I still have it for using with certain things.

What broadband speed are you paying for from your Isp ?

  big bloke66 22:48 07 Feb 2007

Oh and what speed test site or program did you use ?

  cadx 22:51 07 Feb 2007

I have only been with Tiscali since Dec06 and I am using free week end talk unlimited for £17-99p, I was previously with aol for 9 years after recently having a lot of trouble being disconnected from them I decided to go elsewhere.

sorry forgot to add its Tiscali its up to 8mb

The icon in System tray only tells you what the Line can connect at. Nothing to do with what you signed up for or can get

  cadx 22:55 07 Feb 2007

where would I find the System Tray? I have been so used to my way around aol and am an oldie too

  woodchip 22:56 07 Feb 2007

Where the clock is

so do I click onto something as when I hover my mouse over by the 2 "tvs" it says 7.4mbps, is this what you mean?
