Broadband speed

I've recently upgraded from Tiscali dial-up to Tiscali 512kps broadband. No complaints so far.

I need an explanation though of the speed. As soon as I connect I get one of those (sometimes irritating) XP pop-ups which tells me "Tiscali Broadband is now connected at 2.3MBps"

Whenever I download (new software, MS updates, etc, etc) the download speed is usually reported as 59 - 62kbps depending on the time of day which, I understand, is very much in the ball park for a 512k broadband connection.

Why, therefore, am I being told that I'm connected at 2.3mbps??

i also have the same problem, i have tiscali broadband at 150 kbps but when i connect its says that i am running at 589kbps. when i start a download though it has a transfer rate of 20kbps

OK. So I'm not alone in being a bit confused!

Anyone elaborate for us, please?

Try Net Sat Live from here: click here.
It gives you a true reading of your current up and download speeds.
