Broadband installation

When I installed dial-up software sometime ago, I had to disable the security softwares.

During the installation of broadband, is the firewall, antivirus software has to be disabled?

if so what are the security issues.

It shouldn't do. If needs acess your firewall is blocking, firewall should ask your permission to let it through or not. Which ISP braodband are you using?

Sky broadband comes with a very simple installation disc and this includes a years free Mcafee programme.Sorry if you already know this.I had trouble getting reception at first and the Sky engineer suggested I remove all my trusted free stuff and relied on Mcaffee.I did this but it did not help my problem at all.

I have Norton security software & had no problem with it. I will use it until the licence expires then perhaps use the Mcaffee software.
I have registered for Sky broadband & still waiting for the equip to arrive. Then i will update this query.
