Broadband cuts out , with incoming voice call

  timoth 14:30 22 Feb 2007

Anyone know what to do, please, broadband cuts out (BT) when i get an incoming telephone call, and an error message says 734 ppplink etc?

Tried BT help and they suggested unplugging and re-plugging the modem etc, no avail. The reciever of calls is a cordless phone.

Hi, you need to connect all your normal phone lines with a ADSL Micro-Filter on each connection point.

thanks , so far, so good.
Then i suppose i go to the bt shop, etc, and buy some extra micro-filters, ie the little white boxes? cheers, timoth

Yes, best to buy online from my second link above - that is how I got mine.

Do not go to PCW, the three that I wanted would have cost over £53 at PCW!

Though of course if you have a nearby bt shop, fine.

filters cheaper

DECT Phones have an unenviable reputation of interfering with Broadband links, especially Wireless ones.

I would guess that this is the problem.

Although you can get filters much cheaper than the ones linked to, I would advise against cheap ones, especially if dealing with up to 8 Meg broadband. The filters linked to by Technotiger are one of the best available and I don't think they are too excessively priced either.

BT ones should be fine if that's easier for you however.
