Still sorting this laptop for my friend. Dell Inspiron 6000. Although my friend will be using a dial-up, i thought i would download anti-virus updates etc. via my broadband connection. However when i connect the laptop's lan 10/100 to the blueyonder "webstar" modem the laptop reports that there is limited or no connection. When asking the laptop to repair the problem, it trys to renew the ip address, then reports that it is unable to do so. I have looked at all the settings on my desktop and the laptop and can't see anything different. Is it a laptop fault or my inexperience????
