Broaband Speed Issues

I pay for Virgin Media Broadband up to 8MB DSL and access the internet through my Belkin wireless router.

The Belkin is connected at 54Mbps but having completed download speed tests I am running on average:

Speed Down 96.22 Kbps ( 0.1 Mbps )
Speed Up 312.19 Kbps ( 0.3 Mbps )

I cannot figure out what the problem is. Could it be my router? A problem with the line? Apparantly the line should be capable of up to 3MB download speeds.

Those speeds to seem very slow, I just tested mine as Orange have been having problems in the Manchester area, the line test by BT was fine now they admit to having outages.I am on up to 8 meg but only shows as 1 meg. But my down reading was better than yours at 503.78 Kbps and my up reading was 239.17. However I do have a lot going on at the moment and it is peak hours so I will run mine again tomorrow morning with just the one ie window open and no vpn running.

You will get faster download if you connect with a Ethernet cable to the router
