BOOTMGR is missing

  ol blueeyes 14:20 03 Dec 2008

I have just been to see a friend who is trying to install microsoft Vista on his ex XP PC.
When we get to the time when the system reboots itself up comes the message "BOOTMGR" is missing press any key to restart. of course when he does we get to the same stage and up comes the message again.

Anyone help please on how to find the missing BOOTMGR ?

Thanks in advance from both me and him.

Solved I said i would let you know. Did what the Lifehacker Page said but did not work. In fact it told me that there were NO problems.
So I installed Linux with NO problems then installed Vista deleting Linux and Low and Behold Installation went fine.
Now that poses the question does Mr Linux know something that Mr Microsoft doesn't ?
