Boot and recover from Stand-by problems.

After the computer has been switched off or left on stand-by for a period it fails to boot with varios messages which inclued "system32/config.sys is corrupt or missing" If you keep trying you eventualy get it to boot. After being on stand-by for a time the dreaded Blue screen appears when trying to restore and there is a need to reboot. If the machine is left running there are no problems! It has 2 hard drives and XP has been loaded on each of them with the same problem showing up! (Does XP always use the drive on IDE 1 for the Boot.ini file? If it does, I just wondered if it could still be a drive problem).

Thanks Fruit Bat, will try that. I suppose when you reload XP it uses the old Registry if it finds one.
