Boot up problem

I've got a Mesh PC with 20GB HD on the primary IDE channel and a Pioneer DVD rom drive and Phillips PCRW404 CDRW drive on the secondary IDE channel. The DVD rom drive is set as master and the CDRW as slave. At boot up I hear two beeps and then get the message 'SEC SLAVE DRIVE ATAPI INCOMPATIBLE - PRESS F1 TO RESUME'. When I press F1 the computer boots up OK but the CDRW drive won't work.

Any advice would be very welcome

Chris

The rewriter should be the Master and the DVD-ROM the Slave. Also enable DMA for both drives.

If you use Nero the DVD-ROM drive's Auto Insert Notification box should be unchecked as the software controls the operation of both drives.

Check that IDE cable is securely in the CD-WR at both ends and that the power lead is secure, also check in the BIOS and see if the drive is being recognized.

of course that should be CDRW-
