boot ini problems

  alan227 17:55 12 Oct 2004

I tried acronis image and it has altered my boot ini file.
I know I can edit the ini file in notepade but I cannot remember how to do it.
Can anyone help.

Things have got worse I just checked the ini file and it seems to have deleted the origonal xp boot line and left the acronis one.

Experts out their if I edit the boot ini file back to what it was will my computer boot if I restart it or is it better to use fixmbr to sort it out.

If this is XP then Start, Run, type in

and click OK. On the general tab there is a tick box for "Use original boot.ini file"

I tried that Vog.
It came up with <windows root\system32\hal.dll
is missing or corrupt.
Any ideas.
