boot floppy disc not recognised

  TOMSTEPHENSON1 15:23 18 Jul 2004

I am trying to reload Windows 98 having accidentally removed Windows Explorer. I have my boot floppy in the A drive and the Windows 98 CD in the CD drive. Each time I try to boot up I get the message "system disk or disk error". Should I be pressing any other key at the same time as the PC is trying to boot up. Thanks in anticitation

Try with the CD disk out.

Sounds like your boot floppy is corrupt / missing files

Check your BIOS and make sure your first boot is Floppy and not IDE or CD.

If you still get the same error go to click here and download a new boot disk for Win 98.

Your computer may boot from the Win98 CD if set to,,, in the BIOS
