Boot error

Hi I was updating Real Player and when system rebooted it halted with the following message: While initializing device IOS: ERROR: Real mode system memory allocation failed. System will start in safe mode and I've probably done no good by playing around with msconfig! Not sure what to try next??

If you have a boot CD , try getting your system to boot from CD (either set boot options from BIOS or use the function key (Normally F8 or F5) to give the boot choice option), and repair your system.

You may lose any emails you have.

system restore?

  eVil Niloc 12:05 13 Nov 2006

Sorry forgot to mention OS is Win98SE so system restore is not an option. Booting with Win98cd wants to re-install. would only use this as last resort.

I can boot in safe mode, butI am not sure where to look to sort out error.

Problem solved:

Reboot - F8 - DOS Prompt - scanreg/restore - restore last error free registry - reboot.

Job Done, but thanks anyway for replies. Colin
