if I set the BIOS to boot from a CD how can it when the CD drives arnt loaded yet . I want to boot from my XP PRO CD.

I believe that the xp pro cd contains the drivers required after the bios has been set to boot from cd and the bios has the first bit needed.

Why do you want to boot from your CD anyway?

Everything you need to operate the DVd drive is in the BIOS.

Just set the Boot oordre in the BIOS to CD as first boot device.

BIOS will look to see if the CD in the drive is bootable, then boot from it or move to next boot device if the CD is not bootable.

no luck,

I have three boot seek options, in my BIOS, I have set all of them to CD seek, when I reboot the machine for a few seconds, the message "serching for CD rom" appears then the computer goes on and boots from the hard drive.

Any suggestions?

You only need to set one of the boot options to CDROM, the first one is best for your requirements.
If your XP CD is in the drive you should see `Press any key to boot from CD` after starting your machine. If you have more than one optical drive you may need to try a bit of trial and error.
