bluetooth phone to printer

a friend at work asked me if those bluetooth devices ( the ones that allow you to send pictures from your phone to your p.c.) would work if it was plugged into the usb on his h.p. printer. he says it has multi card reader slots in it and he only has it for digital photos. he has no p.c. or laptop.

USB is a host controlled technology. When a PC and printer are connected by USB it is the USB Host Controller in the PC which runs the connection.

If a USB Bluetooth Adapter was connected directly to a printer, there would be no USB Host Controller - it wouldn't work.

But you can buy printers that are bluetooth enabled which is what your friend is probably confused with.
