My pals laptop has the BSoD. It comes on as Windows boots. Tried getting into safe mode and same happens. Any ideas?

if the repair doesn't work post back with as much info as possible: what info is on the blue screen; what make is the laptop, has anything been added to it - eg memory.

Is there a disc in the disc tray?

Windows repair seems to have done the trick. As soon as Win XP came back to life I loaded SP2 & SP3 together with Microsoft Security Essentials, which I am impressed with, and it found a severe trojan. Perhaps that caused the problem. Anyway, all back in order.
