My niece downloaded the latest version of MSN 7.5 and cannot access her account anymore, it was suggested the firewall might be blocking it but that was disabled she can use her account on her friends comp. with 7.5 installed, any suggestions Thankyou

use amsn or gaim for starters. is better than msn as there are no adverts and still has all he features and is more secure to use. as for why it wont log here on try to access it on the web to make sure the account still exists as a first suggestion. have you got a hardware filewall or any control software installed as this may be causing problems aswell.

Thankyou Mytob for you answer, the account is still open and the firewall is not the problem.

What actually happens?

Thankyou VoGtm. MSN has made several failed attempts to sign you in your firewall may be blocking Messenger from connecting to the service. Results from troubleshooting tests IP OK Default OK IE's offline setting OK Hosts File OK DNS OK Proxy Server OK Key Ports has exclamation mark clicking on repair button to fix settings has no effect.

Further to the problem of blocked entry to MSN I suggested that she might be able to set up a new account but MSN will not let her do this either, could it possibly have been a virus or malware or something that has caused the problem. hope somebody can help.

its unliky a virus is affecting it. if you cant sign up for another msn account just fake your details. every one does! :) if that fails try getting a yahoo email address. you could run a av and spyware scan on the pc but i suspect it will not solve you problem. in anycase you should be performing them on a weekly basis as part of pc maintainance.

Uninstall, then re-install MSN.It should configure itself to work with the firewall.or your firewall will ask if you want to allow it.
