Block Premium Rate 0909 numbers on IE6

How do I stop browser being switched from ISP to to premium rate phone numbers, which happens in the background and you only find out when you get your phone bill??
Am running XP Pro/IE6.

You can have premium rate calls blocked by BT, I think it's a free service.

Is this happening to you, or are you wanting to take preventative action?

Do you have any anti spyware programs installed?

it is happening to my daughter - at her own home on her own PC. The real answer is not to expose herself to that ie adult sites [!] but that is up to her. Do you have any ideas other than The Spires - have BT block? She is on NTL cable.

Have you set IE to dial your default ISP only you have to set the one you want as default first, also look in networking start/connect to/show all connections when it opens look see if there is more than 1 and delete the ones you dont wont, but the only way to stop 0909 numbers is to stop them at the BT end by banning them from bieng dialled.

Thanks for help

Does'nt Zonealarm firewall prevent the PC dialling out to unauthorised numbers?

I can throughly recommend the German download.

I have installed it and it does indeed come up in English. I have given permission for ISP to be called at anytime ( free phone number ). Any other has to have my consent before it will redial or switch.

Thanks once again to byfordr and georgemac for there help. :-)
