Bleep when I open Hotmail from MSN messenger

i have xp pro, sp2, Ad-aware, spybot, spywareblaster, pest patrol, avg, zone alarm.

When I open Hotmail from MSN messenger i get an irritating bleep noise. I have heard it sometimes when opening web pages from Google searches.

I have ran ad-aware, spybot and pest patrol. completely clean. AVG also no viruses. All up to date. I have Crazy Browser and MSN toolbar that stop popups.

Has anyone any ideas how I can get rid of it? Can't find anything unusual in msconfig, task manager or add/remove program list.

It doesn't happen when I open IE.

Thanks.

How's about this.... SETTINGS/CONTROL PANEL/SOUNDS,AUDIO DEVICES then click CHANGE SOUND SCHEME.

See if you can't spot the culprit there.

As you may know, if you select a sound you can play it and then use the drop down window and select NONE from the menu. Give that a try.

Cheers Kev.

Thanks kev.Ifty. Tried that. I think it's some sort of spy or thing like that.

"I have heard it sometimes when opening web pages from Google searches."

Are you sure it isn't the SP2 pop-up stopper?

Just a thought.

Right click on the pest patrol icon in the task
bar go to cookie patrol and disable sound.

If it is the popup blocker you should also see a thin yellow strip with as message on it, just under the toolbar.
