blanking and starting again

  cozza101uk 21:24 27 Aug 2008

Hope you can help with this.

I have an E-machines laptop running Windows XP.

I want to blank the hard-drive, re-install the software and start again.

I need to keep XP as I can't re-install that, but everything else I want rid of.

I'm virussed and spy-wared up to kingdom come and nothing works...tried system restore, adware removal etc etc etc.

I want it restored to the state I bought it in if at all possible.

any suggestions?

"I need to keep XP as I can't re-install that"

Why can't you re-install it?

Do you have the product key sticker on the case? If you do you can borrow a copy of XP OEM version, and re-install using your own product key.

Alternatively, if you could get as far as downloading and running this little program - it'll find the product key of your installed copy.

Shows the value of having a backup!!

Otherwise - you can't do what you want.
