"Blank" Reload CD

  Phrixos 14:26 14 Mar 2009

I've just bought a second-hand laptop, but which system is corrupted. The "Reload" CD, however, while its "Properties" indicates it is completely full, (all blue, no pink) shows nothing at all, in Explorer--even though the view settings are set to "show all files"

Obviously, I'm missing here, but what?

system is corrupted

a few more details and we may be able to sort out the corruption.

System goes into sleep mode, as it should, when the screen is folded down--but, no matter what, it refuses to come out of sleep when the screen is raised.
When I did have access to the system, I set the Power Options to "Always On"--and still it refused to wake from sleep.

The only solution, so far, has been to do a hard re-
start, at which the system USED to start up ok, but as it has suffered too many hard restarts it has finally given up the ghost and won't bring up a screen even after a shutdown. (I have tried pressing Delete on startup. The system does seem to start up, but there is not even a BIOS screen.)

(I always have been hopeless at troubleshooting.)

Belay that!

Miracle of miracles, I don't know how, but I just got my laptop's screen back.

Now, If I could only sort out this Sleep thing.
