Bit of help in buying a laptop

I'm going to buy a laptop via e bay - I want to connect it wirelessly to my desktop to share my broadband connection. I know how to set the desktop up but I just want to make sure of what I need for the laptop. As I understand it I need a pcmcia card installed in the laptop - is that it?

Yes, or you can use a USB adaptor. The PCMCIA card is more tidy; the USB one is easier to position.

WHY e-bay???? You are asking for trouble.

any other thoughts on wireless connectivity looks straightforward just a pcmcia card?

A good chance that the battery has seen better days as well fine if you intend to be near a plug socket but otherwise a new battery will set you back around a hundred squid.

Difficult to tell what condition its in and as woodchip pointed out no warrenty.
