BIOS update query

I have recently upgraded my P4 socket 478 CPU from 2 Ghz to 2.8 ghz, the computer runs fine most of the time, but once in a while i get a BSOD and upon reboot, the windows error report suggest that i upgrade my BIOS because the fault is related to some component changes i have done.
I went to the MSI live update site and checked for an update, but it says my BIOS is the latest version (dated 14/02/2003 ver 1.5).

My motherboard specs allow me to fit up to 3.06 ghz CPU providing it is 533Mhz bus speed max, which it is.

Mobo details:
MS-6585 648MAX
Chipset SiS 648
installed RAM 2048 DDR 2700

Is it an upgrade issue? or some incompatibility with the CPU

I would suspect memory that's running flat out with little margin. Run a long memory test; click here

The memory test did not reveal anything, but i found a faulty memory slot on the motherboard, i moved the memory, so i have 1gb in bank1 and a 1gb in bank3, what a difference! it loads up really fast now.

Thanks for your help
