Bios update help

I want to do this BUT.

When I accessed, AMI, they said this,

I have read that the company who make the boards dont always install the Bios, as it can be done by the computer maker??

My comp info also says 256 ram installed but the above says I have 512

yes.for example my mobo is a gigabyte GA 8siml.if i go to the gigabyte website to download a bios for my mobo i get an award bios.but as my computer is put together by packard bell even though it uses the above mobo the bios is changed to use an amibios by PB.

so you need to be a bit careful you get the correct one.im guessing its a packard bell explorer maybe as they use this msi MS-6511 board click here and click "find by serial number for me" and if its a PB machine it will identify it for you and give you a list of updates for drivers and bios etc.
