I currently have a wired 54mbps router with my desktop, but i which to change to a wireless 1 becos...A) When my friends bring round their laptops i have to connect it wiredly(which is a little hassle for me) and B) I shall soon be investing in a laptop as well.
I currently have a 2mbps connection with virgin, and my router is 54mbps....BUT I require a better/more powerful WIRELESS CABLE ROUTER maybe 108mbps....any suggestions, links would be much appreciated....not TOO expensive though...but better then my current router...and easy to set up as well

“I currently have a wired 54mbps router with my desktop”

I have never seen or heard of a hard wire router/hub/switch that runs at 54Mbps

All Ethernet hard wire router/hub/switch connect at 10/100Mbps or 10/100/1000Mbps

A standard wireless router connect at 54Mbps

The normal connect speed on a laptop build in wireless card or USB adapter is 54Mbps

on older laptops with build in wireless cards the connect speed is 11Mbps

Using a standard build in wireless card or USB adapter to connect to a 108Mbps,

125Mbps, 300Mbps wireless router will only connect at 54Mbps

You must buy a separate 108Mbps, 125Mbps, 300Mbps, USB wireless adapter or PCI

wireless card for each device you want to connect at 108Mbps, 125Mbps, 300Mbps

There is no guarantee that using an 108Mbps, 125Mbps, 300Mbps wireless router and

108Mbps, 125Mbps, 300Mbps adapter that the connect speed will be always be

108Mbps, 125Mbps, 300Mbps it all depends on the distance, amount and thickness of

walls, quality of signal, interference from equipment inside the building etc

That govern the connect speed of the wireless device
