Hi I'm going to have to put a new operating system on my PC [32-bit 2gb ram 2ghz dual core] I tried before but went back. I like the detailed and list views in XP that last time I upgraded could not have in explorer so down graded again to Xp. What version is most like Xp pro? I don't need a touch screen.

What is wrong with Win7, a bit of getting used to initially but not difficult.

hi, just loaded win7 last week, works well, not too much to learn,

at least the screen looks normal, IE11 a bit differant, but soon got used to it. no outlook express, but Live mail seems to work ok.

worth going for, seeing as XP starts to become obsolete in april.

Just try Win7 by downloading the version of your choice from Digital River, which is an official MS site.
Win 7 Download

Install and if you like it, buy an activation key. It is very similar to XP

Thanks for the answers. I already tried windows 7, 2years ago, found it anyoying, dumbed down things taking control. Smothered in a way. all the details had gone and everything seemed "noddy simple or locked down" . Linux just isn't for me. Maybe a mac. I wasn't sure what had changed in windows since or the newer versions. I'll take a visit to PC world ... If they have any windows 7 pcs.

You'll only find Windows 8 and Mac at PC World.

W7 is fine.
