which motherboard should i invest in for an AMD chip, a top spec one?

It depends how stable you want it, what you want to do with it, and how much do you want to fiddle with the settings. How much you want £££££

im willing to spend upto £150, i maninly need it for java programming & the usual music internet etc. i need it to be a stable but strong system

if ya got this months pc advisor mag (page 74), its got a run down on the best top end mobo's. if not, the best 2 with a worldbench 4 benchmark of 128 are msi kyn2-l & abit nf7-s both nvidia nforce2 chipsets. just in case i'm infringing pc advisors copyright cant give full list and details, so get the mag for full run down.

the Chaintech APOGEE is a good board, coomes with alot of USB 2.0 connections, eight altogether I think with all the add ons you get with it.

The nForce2 chipset is now generally thought to be the best performer for the AMD platform, and stable.

I have used three of these boards in computers with AMD chips and i am about to build another, they are excellent boards, and very stable.

I have also used other boards by Abit and all have been very stable!

if i where you i would certainly give abit a consideration!!
