Ho whats the best method to unclutter a PC. Got a 5 year old machine thats been in the spare room for ages but want to give it to my friend and want to speed it up somewhat as was slow. Needs uncluttering from all the old programs that he won't want and get it like new again.

I tried re-installing fresh copy of windows on it but it wouldn't delete the partition with windows originally on cause it had important boot files on it said so it couldn't put a fresh copy on.

So I guess my only option is to unclutter it all and just have the essential programs she will use.

Can anyone advice me on the best methods or programs that do a good job of getting rid of unwanted rubbish and speeding it up.

Cheers

I think you need to change the boot order in BIOS first to boot from CD so you can install.

I would have no idea where to start to change something in the BIOS for it to allow me to copy over with a fresh copy of windows xp
