Will it boot at all?

Regular beeps once past the POST usually are an overheat warning,

try clearing all the dust and grime from the innards and check fans are running OK.

Thanks it will not boot up. I have cleared a lot of fluff and dirt and the fans are running. it is a long beep about every 5 seconds for about 10 seconds.

From your description I would suspect memory

try removing one stick at a time

or even just a remove and refit may solve the problem.

Thanks for reminding me of possible causes. ram removed and put back and pc operational. Must back up end year tax data before I lose it! What a great forum now entering my 12th year.
