Battery does not work

Hi all
I have a second hand laptop (Samsung VM8000 Series) runniing windows XP

It works fine with power lead but switches off when I nplug it.

The lappy is telling me that it has a Microsoft ACPI - Complient Controll Method battery. It also says the device is working, and the drivers seem OK, so any ideas.

Cheers as always

Is there any way that I can check this.

Only with a new one. If the Laptop battery is over three years then it.s most likely Duff or it's got a internal short. This would stop the Laptop booting if it's shorted
