Basic questions about wireless keyboards

I will soon need a new keyboard and mouse, but I see that most decent keyboards (particularly in packages) are wireless. I like my current wireless mouse (when it works properly, at least) but I have never used a wireless keyboard.

Do they work if you try to select startup options or access the BIOS (assuming that USB keyboard support is enabled)? Or does the absence of the driver prevent their use before Windows boots up? And, even more importantly, do they cope well with fast typing?

I have a wireless keyboard and mouse entering the bios is no problem, Unless you have new batteries and the sensor in close proximetry fast typing can be a problem, ok for me as i dont type that fast;but have noticed if i speedup letters sometimes get missed

If it can miss letters, then it's probably out for me.
