Is there a way to backup windows wireless connection settings?
I want to perform a reformat and reinstalation of windows for a friend, but they will not know how to setup the wireless when they take the laptop home.
So can I save and then put the settings back after the reinstall?

normally has a back up facility if you can access the settings through IE.

Usually type the IP address form the back of the router into the address bar then you should be asked for an access password or passwords. Usually Admin then Admin!

Make and model of router? As Halmer has posted, nearly all have the facility to backup settings. The file saved is usually called "config" without the quotes. Your routers' manual should explain the process.

D-Link ADSL Modem / Router is 168.192.1.1 :)

This is a list I compiled some time ago.

I think you have 192 and 168 switched around.

Do you use a D-Link and can confirm that .1.1 is correct?

Thanks.

I think he's talking about the PC, not the router.

Save while it's working, point your friend to the page above in order to restore the settings (or do it yourself after the re-install).

BurrWalnut - I have a Dlink and can confirm it is 192.168.1.1 is correct for mine anyway. (DSL 604 I think although I'm not at home so can't check.)
