Having Just Reinstalled XP, as normal I backed up all my documents and all that.

And I also backed up "My Music" Folder which contains my Media Player Playlist Files that I use with Media Player which are Video Camera Videos.

I set about trying to locate a suitable solution on how do back up the media player playlists and I came across this link.

I followed the guide and I did what it said.

When I came to load Windows Media Player and Restored My Music Folder and the Windows Media Player Folder and I attempted to play a video I get this error.

"Windows Media Player Encountered A Problem while playing the file for
additional assistance "Click Web Help"

Can anyone offer any tips on why this happens??

Many Thanks

Rob

could it be codec related?
I normally get this when trying to plays isos or flvs without the required codecs.

that could be an option.

Any others like to comment on this?

Have you worked your way through the options - also what format is the video recorded in?
