Backup help needed please

  Maiden. 13:36 12 Jul 2008

I've been having problems with my PC freezing - tried all the usual things (cleanin, RAM check , heat check etc), and I now want to do a clean install.

I have lots of photos, video, software etc that I'd like to keep so I'd like to back up my C drive to my new external hard drive - any suggestions for the best software to help me do this. I need the flexibility to easily identify specific things to re-intall or to re-install the whole drive if necessary.

Don't mind if it is free or paid for. I'm on Vista, tried the inbuilt backup tool but it does not seem very easy to understand the results.

Any help / advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks all - I thought of Acronis too, but I've heard there are some compatability issues with Vista and that it is not as perfect as it is with XP.

Is this true, or have I heard from users that have not the software up correctly?

Acronis TI 11 works perfectly with Vista.

Is it incremental or does it need to do a full backup each time it runs?

You can do either a Full Backup, Incremental, or Differential, and also Email.
