Backup Films on Blu Ray

  OTT_Buzzard 16:42 15 Jul 2009

I've got a number of films on blu ray at the moment, and owing to an issue with one of my blu ray players am unable to watch them (actually, they're mostly kids' films and an easy way to keep the little one quiet for a couple of hours!)

The broken blu ray player in question is in a networked PC media center.

On the assumption that I am able to back the films up on the network using another blu ray player, what codec is best to use? There are so many available with so many different settings that I really don't have time to test them all out!

Any advice?

I own the films so presumably it won't cause any legal problems?

"I own the films so presumably it won't cause any legal problems?"

That's a very common misconception. You own a blu-ray disc. The content of the disc is owned by the movie producers.

Assuming you can get past the protection on the disc, Blu-ray films use H264 codec...

ok, i'm marking this thread as resolved. Since there seem to be legal issues it probably shouldn't be continued. Thanks for your input alan14.
