I was wondering as i may have to re-install xp pro and have read in numerous places that it is best to backup the entire harddrive first, is the backup utility in xp pro any good? And where does it back up the data to? CDs? Surely you would need piles and piles of the things! Please explain!

To backup your WHOLE system, most users of this forum advise using "Acronis True Image" as this is very simple to use, and backs up with great compression on almost any drive.

You could always go for Ghost as well, but personally, I prefer Acronis.

The Windows Backup is rubbish. It is not "backwards" compatiable and you can't backup the whole system with operating system and all...
