Backing up system

I read quite a lot on this forum about ACRONIS. Basically I am looking for a good back up system to back up my Vista to a portable hard drive. What are the best options for this, what I am after is backing up my full system so should I have a HDD failure I lose nothing. All help appreciated.

I would suggest Acronis True Image as the software to use. It is very straight forward to use and provides as many options as are likely to be wanted.

If it is of any help, I backup my C: drive monthly to an external drive and have small backups on my second internal drive for a few items I modify regularly (e-mail, accounts, photos & similar) to minimise any loss.

I like Acronis True Image, but their software are not reliable at every start of the version, I will wait till it became stable before buying the new one.
