Avoiding re-activation tip

  Chris Webster 21:13 16 Apr 2006

Just read this in XP Made Easy mag, thought it might be usefull.

Once you activate Windows XP, a file is created/updated in the Windows/System32 directory. This is called 'wpa.dbl' file. If you need to re-install, take a backup of this file and, once you have re-installed the OS, copy it back to the same directory.

Cheers Chris.

It's certainly worth noting Chris......Thanks for the information.

Have to say though I find reactivating online quick and painless.......but it would definitely save time over phone activation!

I've heard of several people who have tried this method and it didn't work.

Don't rely on it.

I am one of the several people who have tried this lots of times for different reasons and it has never worked!
