AVI Files to DVD

One of my family friends has sent me footage of their holiday in an .AVI file (no copyright issues!) which I can play on my laptop fine ... but when I try and burn it to DVD to show the rest of the family it comes up as "Bad Disc"

Two questions therefore: What would be easier? Find someway of converting the AVI file to one that will be recognised by DVD player or hooking up the laptop to the TV and showing it that way?

Any suggestions most welcome :-)

What software are you using to create the disk?

I use Ashampoo burning studio 7 and it burns avi files straight to DVD no problem.

You need to make sure your DVD player supports the DVD.

to play avi file on your dvd your dvd has to be
div x compatable

if not you need to convert it into mpeg

I use DVDFlick click here It includes IMG Burn if neccesary, but makes an excellent job of converting and you can set up through the online walkthrough.

And its free.
