AVG9 strange behaviour

  muddypaws 18:26 11 Dec 2009

WinXP Home SP3 Firefox.
To-day I suddenly noticed that web pages were taking just a second longer to load.
I went to Task Manager and saw that the CPU was at 100%. and stayed there.
There were two entries for avgcsrvx.exe running at 30% each and an entry for csrss.exe apparently a Windows process that I daren't stop running at 40%.
Uniblue process library had no trace of the first entries.
There was no updating or scanning taking place.
Did a re-boot and then a restore but the situation was un-changed.
I know other members have reported problems with AVG9, but up till now mine has been running smoothly.
I un-installed AVG with Revo and am now on
MS Essentials with CPU behaving normally.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I mention it out of interest more than anything else.

No problems here, so it appears only some systems are adversely affected. No high CPU usage with csrss.exe or any other process. I'm also using WinXP (Pro) SP3 & Firefox.

After a recent update, AVG is now using lower overall resources - a before/after screenshot of Task Manager click here. G

AVG has gone now.
I sincerely hope the paid for version doesn't give people the same problems.
