AVG Ver 6 & the 3.09 Meg AVI file

  Peter 23:43 08 Nov 2004

I've just downloaded the latest AVG6 update which was rather large at over 3 meg. I've noticed that it has left a 3.09 meg AVG6.AVI file in the AVG6 folder, but my rather old (1997 Windows 95) system will not play it.

Has anyone seen the contents of the AVI file and if so can they tell me about it please?

On my system (win98se) the file is a BIN file, as are all the other updates.

Mind if I ask what the date of that release was? Cheers

I've just had another look and have seen the AVI file that you are refering to, in the AVG program folder.

I tried to run it with Media Player and then Irfanview but it won't run in either.

Maybe it is to do with the forthcoming upgrade and not yet complete.

I have realised that this file, AVG6.AVI, is in fact the core file for AVG6. I deleted it thinking it was just an AVI file, perhaps advertising the newer version 7, but then was unable to start AVG after a reboot. Luckilly I had backed up the file concerned as I was unable to restore it from the recycle bin.

I would have posted this message earlier, but I was unable to get into this site at about 1am. I think there may have been some maintenance going on.

I will tick this thread as resolved.
