AVG V8 - Possible False Positives

  DippyGirl 10:19 08 Nov 2008

AVG 8.0.175
DB 270.9.0/1774
This morning this warning issued
MozBackup\Uninstall.exe being reported as Trojab Generic12.HTC on open

MBAM and spybot both scan the file OK

Google shows similar problem (7th/8thNov) with install and uninstall files eg Handbrake and worldofGoo

It's picking it up on AVG 7.5 as well so I would say it's a false positive. It does that every now and then with various files. I suspect they'll release another update later today to fix it.

History/VirusVault/Send for analysis

It takes a while to send but as far as I know it works.

There must have been another update. It's no longer picking it up.

Thanks for the article - the guy puts me to shame "installers archive ... backed up to "installed installers" folder... "
Every now and then I spring-clean my Downloads folder and that's about it.
I had informed AVG (probably along with many others) post was for info really as I had spent some time convincing myself it was a false+ve thought I'd share

Yep AVG8 scan of that file now shows clean and my AV DB is now 270.9.0/1776
