AVG unattended updates

I've installed AVG free onto a friend's PC as he has heard good things about it - personally I prefer Avast :-)

Anyway, does AVG do unattended updates like Avast does? I mean, will it find relevant updates and install them?

Thanks as always, Dio.

If its set up and on line it will do unattended updates.

To set the time open scheduler then click the tasks, and change the times to what you want. So long as your on line it will do it all.

Mines set daily followed by a scan an hour later

OK -thanks for that - it seems a little more complex than Avast.

It will check for Critical Updates once every 24 hours. If you are not on-line when the update is due it checks the next time you are on-line. It only downloads and installs the Critical Updates (i.e. Virus Detection Signatures automatically like Norton) but you need to run the Update manually to get the Optional and Recommended Updates (bug fixes etc)

Thanks for that clarification Paul - makes me think that Avast is indeed more userfriendly insofar as one can install it and forget. It seems to update on a regular basis - often more than once a day.
