AVG not available after MAy?? Truth

  muscic lover 13:14 01 May 2008

Is it true that AVG Free (version 7.5)updates are due to end at the end of May 08?

I have been advised to update to AVG 8.0. Is AVG 8.0 free? and are there any better programes available - that do the same thing.

AVG8 is Free and is better than AVG7.5.

AVG8 is free or you could try Avast,

Grisoft say 8.0 free was released on 24/4.
I can only find the link to 7.5 and the paid for 8.0.
Does anyone have a link to the free 8.0?

AVG 8.0 is no longer a simple AV program. It now comes complete with an antispyware function and a resident shield and a linkscanner some or all of which you may or may not want.
If you want a straight replacement for the old AVG 7.5 then go with mfletch's suggestion of Avast - or Anti-Vir is another alternative.
I am still undecided about the new AVG 8.0 and already have the .exe for both of the above alternatives downloaded in case I decide to change.

Not wishing to hijack this thread, but assuming that I decide to move to AVG 8.0 from AVG 7.5, is it better to uninstall 7.5 before installing 8.0 or can you install 8.0 over the top of 7.5?. Thanks for any guidance.

  sinbads 14:18 01 May 2008

if you decide to install AVG8 check the info files first click here

Better sticking with 7.5 at the moment till AVG sorts 8.0 out.
