AVG no longer finding malware after scan

  notrom 08:21 16 Aug 2008

Over the last couple of days AVG Anti-Spyware has produced completely clear results after a scan. Normally I would expect to see various medium threats (I think AVG calls them something like that) after a scan but now absolutely clear! I think I had a Mozilla Firefox update a few days ago - has Firefox been so improved that it picks up all the nasties AVG used to find? Or, more worrying, has AVG somehow been rendered useless?

I think you might be mixing up your terminology - AVG as far as I can tell, does not look for Malware, but it does seek-out Spyware. Spyware is normally far less serious to you as Malware, which is intentionally malicious.

There are plenty of free programs available that will seek-out Malware and deal with it.

PS - I am of course referring to the AVG Free version, I don't know if the paid-for version includes Malware detection.

Apologies for my incorrect terminology, and it is the free version I'm using.
