AVG missed 'i-worm/sobig.c' virus !!

I ran a full scan using AVG (free edition) tonight and the above virus was found. I have the email scans all set to 'on'. How did the AV miss this one? Is it because it's a freebie?

I did wonder why someone tried to send me a virus to me at work (work antivrus caught it first). It turns out that I had sent it to myself!!!!

Sorry about the double posting, I now know what happens when you hit the 'return' key twice wuth the cursor in the wrong place. What I meant to add at the end was, does this mean I have to pay to get protection?

(perish the thought)

Thanks,

Tim.

AVG doesn't pick up viruses automatically in real time the moment they enter your system, it either protects you with a manual or automatic system scan, as you probably just did - or when you attempt to open a suspect file as an attachment.
