AVG free and Partition Manager

  Billyke 23:29 06 Jul 2008

I have been running AVG free on a Windows XP pro desktop with no problems until I divided the HDD with Partition Manager 8.5
Everything seems to be OK except AVG. From the next day the AVG scheduled scan gets stuck when it reaches a file that has something to do with the XP restore feature.
Have tried uninstalling AVG and re-installing it but the same thing happens.
Are there any known conflicts between these programs?

I am unaware of any conflict between AVG and the Windows Restore feature.

I could be that AVG fails to recognise the Restore file made as it is for a whole drive rather than two partitions. Try turning Restore off, reboot, turn it on again and make a new Restore point then try a scan.

By deleting all existing Restore point data you should only have current information which should be fully recognised by AVG.

Good point, thanks.

Will set it up tonight and see what happens with the scheduled scan in the morning.

Will report back with the results.
