Avg failing to update help

my avg is giving me this message when i try to update-you are not protected please check the following components-update manager:invalid update control CTF file. how can i fix this problem? any ideas please.

Mine has reported same condition. I only went for update because I saw this post.

the link is too complicated any easy way to update, is it the site as this happened before, do i really need to uninstall and reinstall, or will i wait and see if the site can sort it out, vista seems to be giving a lot of problems with a lot of programmes, i am having a lot of trouble with it, thanks again for the posts, will post back later if problem solved, still the same at the moment, thanks
