AVG 7.5 - No more updates ......

  Dirty Dick 10:51 08 May 2008

.... after may 31st.

This pop up has just come on my screen, following an update today. It asks if I want to install AVG 8, but from what I can see its NOT free, you only get a 30 day free trial. If its the case that they are going to charge for AVG, can anyone recommend a FREE Anti Virus programme, seems a shame because I have used AVG for several years now, and it has been very good.

despite what the message said AVG 8 is free but from various postings is a lot of trouble maybe time for a change such as avast etc.

I recommend AVG 8.0 free as a free AV.

Don't know where you got the idea that now they are charging for it because they are not. It is still free for personal use.

Some have had issues with AVG 8.0 but fingers crossed its been fine for me so far but its only been a few days.

Avg Free 8 is running fine for me. Had initial problems with the link scanner slowing down browsing but I reinstalled it again without the link scanner and all is running perfectly.

I have heard that avg8 free does not scan e-mails in thesame way as 7.5. is this true

Does'nt pop up and show it but the mail is still certified clear

When mine came up for upgrade to 8, I followed the links which took me to the paid for version. Clever !

You need version 8 from the free.grisoft site click here

I still get a downloading and checking pop-up with my combination of AVG 8.0/TalkTalk/Thunderbird

AVG still checks the emails as before, just as eedcam says theres no notification, but if you check the body of the email, at the end it says, checked by AVG version 8.0 etc etc same as usual.

AVG 7.5 Free is being supported until 31/12/2008. This is the official date that support and updates for AVG 7.5 Free will end.
