I hav allways used Mailwasher with AVG 6 free version installed, and mailwasher has allways performed no trouble. Since I have installed AVG 7 free version as advised as version 6 will shortly be discontinued, I am unable to get mail washer to work, any ideas as to the problem

It is probably the mail settings in Mailwasher.
Do you get any error messages which may help in locating the problem?

yes message comes up with the authentication failed for account { pop ntlworld.com } Plaintex password is no supported for this account. Doesnt mean a thing to me.

That usually means that you are not able to connect to the ntl server via AVG E-mail scanner.

In Mailwasher > Tools > Accounts check that the pop3 server is ( or 'local host')
and that the user name is '[email protected]'

In AVG check the settings under E-Mail Scanner >
Properties > Server tab. The settings should be similar to 'POP3 Port:5000 Host: 'pop.ntlworld.com' - the port number could be any number starting with 5.
