Avast problems

  mimosa418 17:23 03 Jul 2009

I am in the middle of a fresh installation of Windows XP SP3.
After installing and updatying the Avast anti virus I can no longer instal a programme. Any .html file which requires to be installed brings up a warning of a trojan HTML:IFrame-hw, even though these files seem to emanate from installation CD's which are known to be clean. A boot scan finds every .htm or .htmlfile on the machine to be similarly infected.
I can find virtually no information on this trojan on the net. Is this possibly a false positive.
Any helpor advice would be welcome.
